Bengaluru Airport Books 22-Year-Old From Bengal For Emergency Door Mishap, Here’s What Happened

At Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru, a 22-year-old West Bengali man got into major problems after he was accused of attempting to open the emergency exit of a flight while it was in midair.
The incident occurred aboard an IndiGo flight from Kolkata to Bengaluru, watchful crew members quickly turned the person over to airport security upon landing.

The accused, identified as Koushik Karan, was charged with risking the safety of others under section 336 of the Indian Penal Code.
Karan tried to tamper with the door while seated in seat 18 near the emergency exit, but observant cabin staff members stopped him before any damage was done.

Karan said during questioning that he was ignorant of the protocol because it was his first trip. He claimed he was just trying to get up by grabbing onto the door inadvertently. Karan, an MCA first-year student, was traveling to Bengaluru to see family.

This is not the only strange thing that has happened. A 40-year-old man who was apparently intoxicated ended up in similar situations just a year ago when he attempted to pry open an emergency door on an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Bengaluru.
