Greater Noida : Development work at Adarsh Bihar Society, also known as Janta Flats and Affordable Housing, in Chi-4, Greater Noida, has come to a standstill following objections from two residents over the removal or relocation of small plants and shrubs falling along the proposed alignment of internal roads.
The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) was carrying out work to pave the society’s internal roads and install interlocking tiles along the sides for drainage and pedestrian movement. However, the work was reportedly halted after two residents objected to the removal or shifting of plants previously planted in the area.
According to other residents, the majority of the society’s residents support the development work. They have expressed concern that the delay is affecting the movement of residents and preventing the timely completion of essential infrastructure improvements.
Police reached the spot, but no resolution was reached
As the dispute escalated, the police emergency response service, Dial 112, was informed. A police team reached the spot and assessed the situation. However, as the matter reportedly fell within the jurisdiction of the Greater Noida Authority’s land and horticulture departments, no resolution was reached during the visit.
The construction work remains stalled, according to the information provided by residents.
Residents seek intervention from the Greater Noida Authority
Residents have appealed to the authority’s horticulture department and senior officials to intervene and ensure that the dispute is resolved at the earliest.
Their key demands include:
- Site inspection: A team of concerned officials should visit the society to assess the situation and determine an appropriate solution.
- Safe transplantation of plants: The small plants and shrubs obstructing the road alignment should be relocated to a nearby green belt wherever feasible, ensuring that they are preserved.
- Early completion of development work: Road paving and interlocking tile installation should resume and be completed promptly in the larger public interest.
Residents have emphasised that the issue should be resolved through coordination between the concerned departments and local residents, allowing the infrastructure work to proceed while also protecting the existing greenery.
They have urged the Greater Noida Authority to take timely action so that the pending development work can be completed without further delay.
The police outpost in-charge is expected to visit the society on the morning of October 19, along with officials from the Greater Noida Authority, to inspect the site and help resolve the dispute so that the stalled development work can resume.
