Greater Noida West: The Greater Noida Authority has intensified its crackdown on bulk waste generators and illegal waste dumping after smoke was reported rising from a garbage dumping site in Greater Noida West. The authority imposed a fine of ₹40,400 on Aims Gold Home Society in Sector 4 for allegedly failing to manage solid waste properly and dumping garbage at an unauthorised site.
According to the authority, its Public Health Department received information about smoke coming from garbage at an illegal dumping ground on Friday. A team immediately reached the spot and coordinated with the fire department to extinguish the fire.
Following the incident, officials examined the waste at the site and traced evidence linking it to Aims Gold Home Society. A team led by Assistant Manager Gaurav Baghel subsequently visited the society and imposed the penalty after an inspection.
The authority said the society falls under the category of bulk waste generators but had failed to ensure proper solid waste management. The penalty was imposed for improper waste disposal and dumping garbage at an unauthorised location.
Dumper Seized for Dumping Horticultural Waste
In a separate action, the authority’s Health Department team, led by General Manager R.K. Bharti, caught a dumper near the 130-metre road service lane in Sectors Pi 1 and Pi 2.
Officials found that the dumper was carrying horticultural waste that was being unloaded into a nearby vacant plot. The authority seized the vehicle and imposed a fine of ₹40,000.
The action highlights the authority’s efforts to prevent vacant plots and roadside areas from becoming illegal dumping grounds, which can create sanitation problems and pose environmental risks.
Authority Warns Bulk Waste Generators
Greater Noida Authority ACEO Shrilakshmi V.S. has appealed to bulk waste generators to follow prescribed solid waste management rules and ensure that waste is disposed of through authorised channels.
She also urged residents to cooperate with the authority in maintaining cleanliness across Greater Noida.
The authority has made it clear that enforcement against individuals, societies and other entities found violating waste disposal rules will continue.
The latest action comes amid growing concerns over illegal garbage dumping, burning waste and the misuse of vacant plots in Greater Noida West. Strict implementation of waste management rules is essential to prevent such sites from becoming recurring sources of smoke, pollution and public health concerns.
