Raipur: Hundreds of members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) from across Chhattisgarh staged a protest demonstration in the state capital, raising their voices against alleged irregularities in the selection of candidates through the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (PSC) examination in 2021. Students and PSC aspirants also participated in the protest, aiming to demand an inquiry into the selection process. Their attempt to reach the Chief Minister’s residence was foiled as the police lathi-charged them.
The ABVP members also raised slogans against the state government for its failure to curb crimes against women in the state.
ABVP National General Secretary Yagyavalkya Shukla said, “Corruption prevails at every level in Chhattisgarh. Whenever there are job vacancies, the ministers in the state ensure that their close associates get appointed to those positions. The revelation of discrepancies in the answer sheets of the PCS 2021 examination has not only caused disappointment and sorrow among the youth who worked day and night for the PCS exam but has also angered them. The High Court has also stayed the process of appointing 18 candidates.”
ABVP State Secretary Manoj Vaishnav pointed out that the recruitment of close relatives of several officials and leaders, including the relatives of the former PSC Chairman, should be investigated.
