According to Agra-based automobile expert Dharamveer Kushwaha, customers are increasingly preferring CNG vehicles these days. The primary reason is their lower running costs, making them a more economical option for people who travel long distances daily. However, CNG cars generally have a higher starting price than their petrol-powered counterparts.

For working professionals who do not need to travel long distances every day, a petrol car can be a good option. Given their relatively low daily travel requirements, buyers can make an informed decision by considering factors such as the initial purchase price of a petrol car compared to CNG or diesel alternatives, along with their specific usage requirements.

According to Dharamveer Kushwaha, taxi drivers prefer CNG-powered vehicles. Models such as the Maruti Suzuki Swift and Ertiga are in high demand due to their lower running costs and better fuel efficiency, making them popular choices for commercial use.

Experts point out that CNG vehicles are also equipped with a petrol tank, offering drivers the flexibility to switch to petrol if the CNG runs out or a gas station is unavailable along the route. This allows them to continue their journey without interruption. The feature can be particularly beneficial for people who frequently travel long distances.

People in rural areas still rely heavily on diesel vehicles. According to experts, models such as the Mahindra Bolero and Scorpio are considered suitable for driving on rough roads, covering long distances and travelling through hilly terrains. Diesel vehicles also remain a preferred choice in mountainous regions.

Some buyers remain hesitant about switching to electric vehicles, partly due to the lack of adequate charging infrastructure in several areas. Therefore, before purchasing an electric car, buyers should carefully assess the availability of charging stations in their city and along their daily commute routes. They should also consider their specific driving requirements and budget before making a decision.
