NOIDA: The Noida authority has appointed the Central Road Research Institute (CRRI) to test the construction materials used for resurfacing the underpass on MP-3 Road at the crossing of sectors 51, 52, 71, and 72, officials said on Sunday.
Officials added that a CRRI team conducted an on-site technical inspection last week, assessing the adhesion and bonding condition of the mastic asphalt with the underpass surface.
The development comes after repeated complaints from motorists, who said driving on the underpass was a major inconvenience due to potholes. The residents of sectors 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, and 122, among others, stated that using the underpass was inconvenient.
“The Noida authority has yet to address this issue despite multiple complaints. We hope the authority takes necessary measures once the site inspection report is finalised,” said Monika Singh, a resident of Sector 73.
Officials said the authority has started various development works to improve road and traffic management, officials added. “Inspection of construction material is one such step in that direction. Motorists find it difficult to drive on this stretch due to substandard construction material used. The authority aims to improve the road surface for a smoother driving experience,” said AK Arora, general manager of the Noida authority.
The institute is also assessing the stress on the road due to constant vehicular traffic, braking on the slope, and acceleration on the incline, said officials. They added that the technical report will be finalised on the basis of a comprehensive evaluation of the detailed test results and site conditions.
“Necessary corrective measures will be taken to improve the quality and durability of the road surface,” Arora added.
