Greater Noida West: For the residents of Nirala Estate, the recently concluded AOA election was more than just an electoral exercise. It marked the culmination of nearly 10 years of waiting, disagreements, disputes and uncertainty surrounding the formation and functioning of the Apartment Owners Association.
The long-awaited AOA election was conducted on August 16, 2026, with polling and the subsequent counting process completed peacefully despite moments of tension and differences among residents.
Polling Extended as Residents Participate Enthusiastically
Residents turned up in encouraging numbers to participate in the election. The response was such that the polling time had to be extended by an hour, allowing voting to continue until 4:00 pm.
Once polling concluded, the election team began the process of sorting and arranging ballot papers. Counting officially commenced at around 6:00 pm on August 16 and continued throughout the night.
The lengthy exercise finally concluded at approximately 4:00 am on August 17, after several hours of continuous work by the election team, observers, polling officers and volunteers.
Residents Step Forward Amid Limited Manpower
One of the biggest challenges during the election was the limited availability of manpower. A significant part of the election exercise was supported not by external staff but by Nirala Estate residents who volunteered their time and effort to ensure that the process could be completed smoothly.
The builder and facility teams also extended continuous cooperation throughout the day and night. Their support ranged from managing polling arrangements to assisting the election team during the lengthy counting process.
Police Deployment Ensures Peaceful Completion
While the overall process remained peaceful, there were a few instances of noise, arguments and tension during polling. Following a request for assistance, a large police contingent was deployed at the venue.
Police personnel remained present during the counting process and continued their presence until the final stages of the exercise. The coordinated efforts of the election committee and the police administration helped ensure that the process was completed without any major disruption.
Election Team Works Through the Night
The Election Committee comprised Prashant Kumar, Deepanshi, Kirti Shekhar Mishra, Srimanto Banerjee and Priyank Kumar.
Anish Jerish and Shailendra Singh served as Observers, while Azeem Khan was the Presiding Officer. Naveen Srivastava and Rajendra Singh Chahar served as Polling Officers.
The builder staff, facility team and several resident volunteers also played an important role in supporting the entire election exercise.
After hours of polling, ballot management and overnight counting, members of the election team were visibly exhausted and sleep-deprived. However, the successful completion of an election awaited by the society for nearly a decade brought a strong sense of satisfaction.
Results Await High Court Permission
Although both polling and counting have now been completed, the election results will neither be declared nor given effect without the permission of the Hon’ble Allahabad High Court.
The decision is in compliance with the Court’s order in Writ-C No. 27928 of 2026. Candidates and residents will therefore have to wait for further directions from the Court before the results can be officially announced or implemented.
A Significant Milestone for Nirala Estate
Nearly 10 years of waiting, differences among residents, limited resources, moments of tension and an overnight counting exercise made the Nirala Estate AOA election a challenging process.
Despite these circumstances, the peaceful completion of polling and counting marks an important milestone for the Greater Noida West housing society.
The successful conduct of the election was made possible through the collective efforts of residents, the Election Committee, observers, polling officers, builder and facility staff, volunteers and the police administration.
For Nirala Estate, the hope now is that this long-awaited election process will help the community move beyond past differences and pave the way for a more transparent, united and better-managed future.
The final chapter of the election, however, will only begin once further directions are received from the Hon’ble Allahabad High Court.
