Noida : Jal Vayu Vihar Community Centre (JVCC) celebrated Independence Day with the theme “Legacy of Valour: Celebrating Freedom,” paying tribute to India’s freedom struggle and the enduring spirit of courage and sacrifice. The Chief Guest was Shri Yogesh Arun Rao Jhansiwale, the sixth-generation descendant of Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi.
The two-day celebration began on August 14 with “Shauryaanjali: Veeron Ko Naman,” a solemn tribute to freedom fighters and brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice for the nation.
On August 15, the programme began with flag hoisting, followed by the National Anthem and Vande Mataram. A special audio-visual presentation depicting Rani Lakshmibai’s final battle and supreme sacrifice was then screened.
The presentation was followed by an interactive session with Shri Jhansiwale titled “Samvaad: From Legacy to the Present.” During the interaction, several lesser-known aspects of Rani Lakshmibai’s life, her family and the journey of her descendants were discussed, giving residents an opportunity to gain deeper insights into the legacy of one of India’s most iconic figures of the freedom struggle.
Speaking on the occasion, Rear Admiral Brijesh Jhang, President of JVCC, said that Shri Jhansiwale’s presence gave the community a rare opportunity to connect directly with the living legacy of India’s freedom struggle.
He emphasised that remembering the nation’s heroes is not enough and that it is equally important to carry forward their values of courage, sacrifice and service.
Through the two-day celebration, JVCC sought to make Independence Day more than a ceremonial occasion by connecting residents, particularly the younger generation, with the stories, sacrifices and enduring legacy of India’s freedom struggle.
