Greater Noida: Concerns are mounting over the condition of open drains and uncovered roadside drainage channels in Noida and Greater Noida, where residents say accidents continue to occur despite repeated complaints to the authorities.
According to residents, several drain covers are missing along SK Road, which connects Surajpur to Kasna, particularly near Vishwa Bharti School and Jagat Farm Market. They also allege that several unauthorised road cuts exist in the area and that damaged kerbstones have further increased the risk for pedestrians and motorists.
Residents warn that the uncovered drains pose a serious safety hazard and could lead to severe injuries or even fatalities if immediate corrective measures are not taken.
Harinder Bhati, representing the Active Citizens Team, has urged the Greater Noida Authority to address the issue without delay. He appealed to officials, including Senior Manager Rajesh Nim, Manager Swatantra Verma and Assistant Manager Kuldeep Sharma, to ensure that missing drain covers are replaced, damaged infrastructure is repaired, and unauthorised road cuts are rectified before a major accident occurs.
Local citizens have called on the Greater Noida Authority to carry out an urgent inspection of the affected stretch and implement necessary safety measures to prevent potential mishaps.
