Noida: Residents of Sector 80 have been grappling with a severe water shortage for nearly a week, with many households receiving water for less than half an hour a day. The prolonged disruption has caused significant hardship for families, workers and other residents who depend on a regular water supply for their daily needs.
According to residents, the situation has worsened over the past several days, with some areas reportedly going without water for up to two days at a stretch. The shortage has forced people to make alternative arrangements and travel in search of water, adding to their daily challenges.
When contacted regarding the issue, Jal Board Junior Engineer Ashok Kumar stated that the groundwater level has dropped considerably.
Frequent power outages as a major reason behind the disruption, explaining that tube wells are unable to operate efficiently without a stable electricity supply. The water level has gone down and continuous power interruptions are affecting the functioning of tube wells. The department is making efforts to install another borewell, but the issue has not yet been resolved.

Residents have expressed concern over the lack of an immediate solution and questioned how families can manage essential daily activities such as cooking, cleaning and sanitation amid such severe shortages.
The ongoing crisis has highlighted the need for a long-term and sustainable solution to ensure an uninterrupted water supply in the sector. Residents have urged the administration and the water department to take urgent action and implement permanent measures to address the problem before the situation deteriorates further.
Raghunath Singh Chad, a resident of Sector 80, has appealed to the concerned authorities to intervene immediately and provide relief to affected households.
