Noida: Afire incident was reported at the electricity meter of a guest house located at D-180 in Sector 51 on friday, triggering panic among residents in the area. the situation was brought under control after timely action, and no casualties have been reported so far.

According to information shared by residents, the electricity department was immediately informed and power supply to the premises was disconnected as a precautionary measure. Teams from the police and fire department were also alerted and were expected to reach the spot promptly to assess the situation and prevent any further escalation.

Repeated complaints against illegal guest house

The incident has once again brought attention to the ongoing issue of illegal PG and guest house operations in residential sectors of Noida. Residents of sector 51, through the RWA, have repeatedly raised concerns about the same guest house operating at D-180.

Official sources indicate that the work circle-3 of Noida Authority had already issued three notices to the property owner regarding violations. despite this, the girls PG and guest house continues to function without interruption, allegedly in violation of zoning norms.

Planned city norms under question

Noida is widely regarded as a planned city where commercial activities are not permitted in designated residential zones without proper licensing. however, the continued operation of PG accommodations and guest houses in such areas has raised serious questions about enforcement and regulatory oversight.

Experts point out that running hotels or guest houses in residential areas without authorization is illegal and poses multiple risks to residents.

Frequent movement of unknown guests raises safety concerns, particularly for women and elderly residents, and compromises the privacy of families living nearby.

Demand for strict action

The residents’ welfare association of Sector 51 has urged authorities to take immediate and strict action against illegal pg and guest house operations across Noida. They have requested that all such establishments running without proper licenses in residential areas be shut down in accordance with rules.

Sanjeev Kumar, Gneral Secretary of Sector 51 RWA, reiterated the demand, emphasizing that repeated complaints have gone unaddressed and that such negligence could lead to more serious incidents in the future.
