Noida/Greater Noida : Greater Noida and Noida’s high-rise housing societies are facing growing concerns over abandoned and scrap vehicles that have been parked for months, some even for years, inside residential complexes. These unclaimed cars not only occupy valuable parking space but also pose a serious security threat, as several of them lack number plates and ownership details.

Despite repeated complaints from residents, police action has been slow, leaving the societies to manage the issue on their own.

Scrap vehicles used to “Reserve” parking spots

Residents allege that in several societies, maintenance teams and builders themselves quietly park scrap or unused vehicles to block additional space, especially in high-demand parking zones. Over time, these cars gather layers of dust and become part of the basement clutter.

Areas worst affected

• Sector 120 (Amrapali Zodiac): Multiple cars covered in thick dust, reportedly lying for months.
• Sector 34: Damaged and abandoned vehicles occupy key spots near entry gates.
• High-rise basements: In many towers, basement parking resembles a junkyard, reducing usable space for residents.

Security threats go unchecked

Residents note that unverified, unclaimed vehicles within a gated society can be misused and compromise safety.

AOA’s demand immediate action

RWA leaders urge the Noida Authority and local police to initiate:

• Verification drives
• Towing of unidentified vehicles
• Compulsory documentation of parked cars
• Strict enforcement of society-level parking bylaws

Unregistered or numberless cars should be inspected on priority for residents’ safety.
