Noida : Even as the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Noida remains in the “Severe” category near 400, a major road in Sector-1 lies broken and unrepaired for several days after underground cable work allegedly carried out by PVVNL. The dug-up stretch located right outside the UPPCB Noida office is generating massive dust pollution, creating serious inconvenience and health risks for commuters and residents.
As per the info, large mounds of loose soil and broken road material have been left exposed without any dust-control measures, barricading, or site restoration. This constitutes a direct violation of National Green Tribunal (NGT) guidelines and CAQM’s GRAP Stage-II & III directives, which mandate strict dust suppression and immediate repair of dug-up roads during periods of hazardous pollution.
Shockingly, neither Noida Authority nor UPPCB nor PVVNL officials have taken visible action, raising serious questions about accountability and enforcement in the district. Environmental activists and local residents allege that the incident reflects systemic negligence by civic bodies, even when violations occur just outside the regulatory agency’s premises.
We demand strict action against the responsible agencies along with urgent repair and cleaning of the damaged stretch to prevent further deterioration of air quality.

Key Concerns Raised:
- Uncovered loose soil contributing to PM10 and PM2.5 levels
- No caution signage or barricading, risking accidents
- Failure to comply with NGT and CAQM pollution-control norms
- Administrative inaction despite proximity to regulatory authorities
With pollution already choking the NCR region, such negligence only worsens public health conditions and highlights severe gaps in urban governance. Residents have appealed to CAQM, UPPCB, and Noida Authority to take immediate remedial action and fix responsibility through penalties and compliance monitoring.
