Noida : Even as Noida continues to reel under severe air quality conditions, open excavation work along the main road between Sector 51 and Sector 39 is adding to the dust pollution crisis. Telecom vendors have reportedly dug up the roadside near A-118, Block A, Sector 51 service road (GPS: 28.572876°N, 77.359654°E), leaving loose soil and debris exposed without any protective measures.
Residents allege that despite lodging a complaint on 09 October 2025, authorities have failed to take action. As of 02 November 2025, the site remains unbarricaded, with bricks and dust scattered across the roadside a situation posing health risks and traffic hazards.
The telecom contractor has displayed “absolute negligence,” while enforcement agencies including Noida Authority, Regional Office UPPCB, and Pollution Control Board have “ignored repeated warnings.

Violation of air quality safety laws
The incident marks a direct breach of environmental protocols:
- GRAP-II restrictions on open digging during Severe AQI
- CPCB guidelines for dust control
- NGT orders on mandatory barricading, debris covering, and water sprinkling at construction sites
Noida’s AQI is currently hovering around 400, placing the population at severe health risk especially children, senior citizens, and residents with breathing ailments. Environmental activists argue that such violations amplify the city’s pollution burden at a time when strict mitigation measures are crucial.
Demands for immediate action
Residents are urging authorities to:
- Conduct an onsite inspection and impose penalties on offenders
- Ensure road and footpath restoration without delay
- Implement all mandatory dust-suppression protocols
- Issue a public action-taken report
A photo evidencing the condition of the site (dated 02 November 2025, 09:55 AM) has also been submitted to officials.
