Ghaziabad: People in Vasundhara Ghaziabad are troubled by sewer overflow. In the scheme built by the Housing and Development Council, the sewer is overflowing due to overloading and people are forced to live a troubled life. The result of the Housing and Development Council’s ill planning is that the sewer lines are gasping to handle the water coming out of the houses. On July 27, hundreds of residents of Shivganga Apartment in Sector-4B of Vasundhara protested fiercely over the sewer problem and raised slogans against the Municipal Corporation.
The RWA officials want to meet Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and tell him their problem
Residents of Shivganga Apartment say that builder societies have developed at a higher height in front of their colony and sewer has been laid in the colony line. They have to pay the price of not paying attention to levelling by living amid sewer water. After running around officials, now the RWA officials want to meet Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and tell him their problem.
The sewer problem going on for a decade
The residents here have been struggling with the sewer problem for more than a decade. Fed up, they complained to the Municipal Corporation, tankers and super shaker machines do come here from the Municipal Corporation but they are unable to solve the problem permanently. Bijendra Singh, RWA President says, “The solution to the sewer problem will come only by changing the sewer line. In this regard, the councillor has also been involved several times. He has also assured to change the sewer line.”
Angry people also raised slogans against the councillor
Shivganga Apartment residents demonstrated on the streets and took out a rally near Mewar College while raising slogans. During this, angry residents raised slogans against the Municipal Corporation and local councillor Shilpa Chaudhary. Local MLA Sunil Sharma was also informed about the demonstration regarding the sewer problem. Meanwhile, when the information about the demonstration reached the councillor, the ‘councillor’s husband’ reached the spot and went away after completing the formality of making a few phone calls.
Drinking water is also getting contaminated
Hari Singh Negi, RWA Secretary says, “Drinking water is also getting contaminated due to the sewer problem. Dirty water is coming from the tanks. The residents here are forced to drink sewer water. They are tired of complaining. There is no office left in Ghaziabad whose door has not been knocked. Sewer water is always filled at the gate of the society. No officer is ready to listen. Even Vasundhara Zone JE Somendra Pratap Singh has been called dozens of times daily, he visits his office but he does not pay heed.”
The issue was also raised during the public hearing on July 16
Hari Singh Negi says that on July 16, he also submitted a memorandum to Municipal Commissioner Vikramaditya Singh Malik at the Municipal Corporation headquarters located in Navyug Market. Before this, he complained about this hundreds of times to the Municipal Corporation’s GM (General Manager) Jal-Kal, Kamakhya Prasad Anand. Kamakhya Prasad is informed about this complaint daily, but he only says repeatedly that he has prepared a file and sent it upstairs. They have accused JE Somendra Pratap Singh of being autocratic.
