On Saturday, the relatives of the deceased who perished in the Rudraprayag tempo traveler disaster received an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh, as declared by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The tempo traveler in which they were traveling plunged into a steep canyon on the Badrinath Highway in the Rudraprayag area of Uttarakhand on Saturday, resulting in up to 12 fatalities and 14 injuries, transporting a total of 26 passengers.
“The next of kin of each deceased would receive an ex-gratia payment from PMNRF of Rs. 2 lakh. Rs. 50,000 would be awarded to the injured, the Prime Minister’s Office announced on X.

At AIIMS Rishikesh, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited with the victims of the Rudraprayag Tempo Traveller disaster.
“It is critical that those who are hurt receive the right care. One by one, their relatives are being notified. To guarantee that patients receive any additional necessary treatments, we have made all the necessary arrangements. “I have overseen an inquiry regarding this incident,” he declared.

Following the directives of Commander SDRF Manikant Mishra, two groups of 14 SDRF personnel from Post Ratuda and Agastyamuni promptly set out for the location armed with rescue gear.
About 500 meters below the main road, the vehicle carrying 26 passengers who were visiting Chopta, Tungnath, and Chandrarashila ran out of control and crashed into a ditch.
After arriving at the scene and working assiduously in extremely challenging conditions, the SDRF teams under the leadership of SI Bhagat Singh Kandari and SI Dharmendra Panwar coordinated a joint rescue operation with the local police and people, resulting in the rescue of 14 injured people who were transported by ambulance to the District Hospital, Rudraprayag, from where seven critically injured people were airlifted to the higher center, AIIMS Rishikesh. Twelve persons had passed away instantly; their remains were also brought to the main road and given to the district police.
Under the direction of Inspector Kavindra Sajwan, an SDRF team was on hand at AIIMS, Rishikesh, where they airlifted the injured and transported them to the hospital.
