NOIDA: As part of the “Clean Noida, Green Noida” program, the Noida authority’s health department, locals, and non-governmental organizations engaged in a “plogging” push on Saturday.
Three public parks in the area were covered: Nav Grah Vatika, C block park, and an additional park next to an empty plot between A and C blocks.
As part of the “Clean Noida, Green Noida” initiative, the drive was conducted at public parks and open spaces in Sector 72. Approximately 250 volunteers participated, and they gathered whatever rubbish they saw in the path and placed it in a trash bag, according to officials.
The collected trash was later taken to the Material Recycling Facility (MRF) for proper and scientific disposal.
The campaign was started, according to deputy general manager RK Sharma of the Delhi authority health department, to raise awareness among the populace about cleanliness and motivate people to maintain a clean environment.
“People participated in the drive and helped clean up a public park and open plots that were littered in Sector 72, including residents, RWA members, and representatives of NGO,” the official stated.
Around 50 sanitation workers were also roped in for a successful cleaning drive in the sector, he added.
According to Sector 72 Residents Welfare Association (RWA) President Jaipal Singh, three public parks in the sector—Nav Grah Vatika, C block park, and another park between A block and C block alongside a vacant plot—were covered.
“Those who were seen to be motivated to sensitize others through cleaning exercises and participating in such awareness activities saw good participation in the drive,” he said.
Every participant signed a banner commemorating the occasion and was required to make a vow to keep their surroundings clean.
In the upcoming days, officials added, the plogging campaign, which was previously conducted in Sector 25, would also be expanded to other areas of the city.
