Sharadotsav: Fragrance of Uttrakhand in Greater Noida West’s Eco Village-2 celebrated with great pomp and show

Greater Noida West: Uttarakhandi society showed a cultural glimpse, Choliya brought the fragrance of mountains to the highrise of Greater Noida West. The festivals of Uttarayan and Makar Sankranti will be celebrated with great enthusiasm on 14th and 15th January.

Kumaon and Garhwal traditions swayed in style!

Uttarakhandi Society organized the second Sharadotsav at Supertech Eco Village-2, Greater Noida West. Pahadi population which stays in Greater Noida West came forward and people from the Kumaon and Garhwal regions of Uttarakhand dressed up in their traditional clothes took out a tableau in the society.

For this tableau, men from Uttarakhand were wearing Pahadi caps along with kurta-pajama. Women presented a glimpse of Uttarakhand in the society by wearing saree and pichora. The tableau started from the temple located in the society. The main attractions of this tableau were the Pahari Band and Chholiya Dance. People from other communities present in the society also participated enthusiastically in this tableau and felt the aura of Pahari culture.

Among the Pahari bands, Nagada, Damau, Beanbaz (bagpiper), Ransingh, Chholiya and Nishan attracted people’s attention. After the tableau, Pahari Samaj organized a colourful program in the society’s club in the evening. In this program, women, children and men not only danced to Pahari songs but many children and women presented an example of their culture by singing Pahari songs.

This autumn festival was also a show of the strength of the pahadi society. Pahadi community is united and is also very seriously dedicated to its culture. There was no main organizer of the program, rather the entire Pahari community together took this program forward and made it most successful upto the expectations of all.
