A broken Metro Dream: Nefoma marched in protest with the tricolour flag and asks when we will get the metro?

Greater Noida West : Lakhs of residents waiting for the metro in Greater Noida West are unhappy with the recent PM’s cancellation of the Metro plan for the residents of Greater Noida West. Upset with this, The social organisation Nefoma with its members protested with the tricolour in their hands at Gaur City Chowk.

In the protest, residents have raised questions from the MP and the Government of India what is the mistake of the residents of Greater Noida West? Why are they barred from this dream? Why their hopes are broken? Lakhs of residents have been waiting for the metro for the last 12 years but a few days ago the DPR was cancelled due to which the metro plan got postponed and thousands of residents were disappointed.

Annu Khan, President, Nefoma says, “The builders sold the flats by giving huge advertisements on newspapers, and TV by showing the builder’s project as a metro station. For the last 12 years, it has been repeatedly told at the time of elections that now the metro plan Sanction has been done, the construction work will start soon but now it is known that the DPR itself has been cancelled due to which the path of coming of Metro has been stopped, due to which there is a lot of disappointment.”

He continues, “There is a demand from our government to make a new plan as soon as possible for Greater Noida. Metro should be brought in Noida West because there will be a distance of hardly 7 kilometres from Sector 51. It is a straight line, still, I am not able to understand why the DPR was cancelled.”

Avinash Singh, Vice President, Nefoma says, “Every day thousands of women, school girls and people working in offices ride in auto rickshaws and pay the fare as per the wish of the auto drivers and carry 6 passengers on each auto, which is safe? This is neither a safe nor a happy journey. We struggled each day with the hope that one fine day we will also get the metro, but now we all are deeply saddened by the cancellation of the Metro plan.”

Deepak Dubey, Advisor, Nefoma says, “The flat registry of thousands of people is stuck and now with the cancellation of Metro’s DPR, it seems that our public representatives are not at all concerned about the lakhs of residents of Greater Noida West.”

Members like Hardam Singh, Anup Kumar, Avinash Singh, Nitin Rana, Sujit, Rafi Ahmed, Devendra Chaudhary, Anup Verma, Deepak Dubey, Sajid Khan, Jai Kumar Singh, Himanshu, Mukul Mishra, Santosh Verma etc. participated in today’s protest
