In the Gaya neighbourhood of Bihar, Uber plans to start offering bike taxi services in August 2024. In order to make this easier, on August 27 and 28, vehicle owners can register their cars, bikes, and e-rickshaws with Uber during a registration event held at Gaya College’s sports complex. Riders will be able to rent motorbikes, e-rickshaws, and auto-rickshaws once the service starts. After registering, the service should start two or three days later.
Gaya, which is home to popular tourist destinations like the Mahabodhi Temple and Vishnupad Temple, is anticipated to gain a great deal from this service. For guests, the new ride-sharing option will offer a practical mode of mobility. Routes from Gaya city to Manpur and Bodh Gaya would be covered by the service initially, with intentions to eventually extend to Sherghati and Tekari Raj.
The aggregator service provides drivers and users with peace of mind, according to Gaya DTO Rajesh Kumar. Drivers can feel confident knowing their vehicles are being utilised by certified individuals, and users can trust the registered vehicles. Through a mobile app, users of the service can conveniently book a ride at any time and from any location.
The introduction of Uber’s service in Gaya is anticipated to generate job possibilities in addition to convenience for users. Drivers that use the service may expect to make a solid living; bike taxi drivers can expect to make between Rs 8 and 9 per km, while auto and e-rickshaw drivers can make up to Rs 15 per kilometre. Uber has registered more than 25 car owners in Gaya thus far, and the registration process is still open.
