Greater Noida Authority: Ultrasonic water meters will be installed in societies to keep an eye on water wastage

Greater Noida: The Greater Noida Authority has decided to install Ultrasonic Water Meter to prevent the wastage of water in Group Housing Societies. The Water Department has also started work on this scheme. As a pilot project, water meters have been installed in Valencia Homes located in Sector-1 of Greater Noida West and Arihant Society located in Sector 10. It will be trialled for one month. After passing the trial, it will be installed in the remaining societies as well.

There are more than 300 societies in Greater Noida

The water level of Gautam Buddha Nagar district is falling very fast. Greater Noida Authority is constantly trying to control the falling groundwater level. Greater Noida Authority is using STP water for irrigation. Drinking water is being supplied from Ganga water. Along with all these efforts, a decision has been taken to prevent wastage of water by installing meters.

There are more than 300 societies in Greater Noida

CEO of Greater Noida Authority NG Ravi Kumar has instructed the water department to install water meters at all bulk water users (group housing societies) to prevent wastage of water. There are more than 300 societies in Greater Noida. Currently, this ultrasonic water meter has been installed in Valencia Homes and Arihant Society. After a month’s trial, a decision will be taken to install it in other societies of Greater Noida.

There will be no wastage of water

According to ACEO of Greater Noida Authority Ashutosh Dwivedi, these meters will run on battery. A SIM card sensor has been installed in it so that the authority keeps getting real-time data. Real-time monitoring can be done with this. It has been made jointly by DRDO and IIT Chennai. A company named Dhara is working on installing it. With this, bills will be available according to the water cost.

People will use water according to their needs

There will be no wastage of water. Currently, water bills are paid according to the area. Earlier also, a plan was made to install water meters, but the problem was where the meter would get electricity from. At the same time, CEO of Greater Noida Authority NG Ravi Kumar has appealed to the residents of Greater Noida to save water.
