Sugar prices have reportedly risen sharply in retail markets ahead of Raksha Bandhan, with rates increasing from around ₹50 to ₹65 per kg within three days. The sudden rise is putting additional pressure on household budgets and increasing production costs for sweet shops during the festive season.

The Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration has directed all construction sites employing 50 or more workers to establish crèche facilities within 15 days. The order, issued under Section 24 of the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020 and Rule 58 of the Central Rules notified in May 2026, lays down detailed safety, hygiene, CCTV and child-protection requirements for children of construction workers.

While RWAs argue that the fees help regulate access, improve security and cover maintenance costs, tenants say the additional charges amount to differential treatment and unfairly burden renters.
