Greater Noida: Tensions continue to escalate in Supertech Eco Village-1 as residents met the Deputy Registrar (Ghaziabad) on Monday to lodge a formal complaint against Election Officer Ashish Maurya, appointed to conduct the long-pending AOA elections. Residents alleged misuse of authority, procedural violations and irregularities, demanding his immediate removal and appointment of a new, impartial election officer.
The controversy began in September during the first meeting between residents and the election officer, when Maurya arrived with unauthorised individuals. One of them, Vishal Srivastava, reportedly conducted most of the briefing despite an RTI reply confirming that he has no connection with the Deputy Registrar’s office and was never authorised to attend any meeting. When residents asked the election officer to disclose his fee structure, both he and his associates abruptly left the meeting without explanation.
Subsequently, the election officer formed an Election Committee to oversee AOA membership. In the meeting, he clearly stated that committee members would not contest the elections. However, under alleged pressure from certain residents, he issued an order on 17 October 2025, allowing committee members to contest, triggering further distrust among the community.
More serious allegations surfaced when some Election Committee members allegedly demanded an additional ₹100 in cash from residents during the AOA membership process over and above the fee prescribed under the UP Apartment Act and Model Bye-Laws. Residents claimed this illegal cash collection was being done on the instructions of the election officer.
During this meeting, the Deputy Registrar clarified that demanding any additional ₹100 in cash is unlawful. He assured residents that a written explanation would be sought from the election officer, after which appropriate action would be taken. It was also made clear that if the illicit fee was collected under the officer’s instructions, action would be initiated against him; if collected by residents, they too would face consequences.
Representatives of the Senior Citizens Association, SOS Group, Squad Team, and N1–N2–N3 Committee, along with several other residents, attended the meeting. Residents now await the Deputy Registrar’s next steps, hoping for a transparent, fair, and interference-free AOA election process.
