Industry stakeholders pertaining to skill and employment highlighted the necessity of taking steps for job development and providing budgetary support to encourage professionals and students to attend GenAI courses during a pre-Budget consultation with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
“By establishing (international) language schools and colleges in India, there is significant potential to meet global human resource demands, which would create vast opportunities.” In order to encourage professionals and students to enroll in GenAI courses, we have also asked for budgetary and policy support’, Internshala CEO and founder Sarvesh Agrawal stated.
The meeting’s main focus, according to Sambhav Foundation Trustee Gayathri Vasudevan, was on making the most use of the money already in place.
We talked about ways to make better use of the cess money that district mining funds and construction welfare boards collect. Furthermore, industrial training institutes—both public and private—need to be strengthened, the speaker added.
Vasudevan also stressed the importance of closing the skills development, job, and education gaps.
It’s imperative that government educational institutions confront digital poverty. Although the New Education Policy (NEP) attempts to address this problem, certain clauses are needed, the speaker continued.
The chairman and CEO of Commercial Real Estate Services, Anshuman Magazine, stated that he was looking for legislative measures to support reskilling efforts in addition to monetary rewards for companies who do so.
The India Staffing Federation’s ED, Suchita Dutta, underlined the importance of offering women workers better benefits in order to support their return to work following maternity leave. Furthermore, we pushed the finance minister to lower the employment service providers’ goods and services tax (GST) slab from 18% to 5%. In order to promote the development of new jobs, we also suggested production-lined incentive (PLI)-like perks, the speaker continued.
In addition to Alkah N. Sharma, director of the Institute for Human Development (IHD), senior officials from the labour, finance, and skill development and entrepreneurship ministries also attended the conference.
Other attendees included Raj Nehru, vice-chancellor of Shri Vishwakarma Skill University; Manish Sabharwal, chairman of TeamLease Services Limited; Susheela Venkataraman, director of SGBS at Unnati Foundation; Gyathri Vasudevan, co-founder & CEO of LabourNet; and Mohit Soni, CEO of Media and Entertainment Skill Council. Jintendra Hakkar is the chairman of the Constitutional Advisory Council at CREDAI.
