Noida: Residents of Sector 105 have expressed growing concern over deteriorating sanitation and maintenance conditions in the area, alleging that cleanliness standards have declined significantly since sanitation-related responsibilities were transferred from the Public Health Department to the Civil Department. According to residents, vacant plots across the sector have become breeding grounds for poisonous reptiles and other dangerous creatures, creating a serious safety risk.

Sector 105 Residents Welfare Association (RWA) President Divya Krishnatreya Deepak Sharma has written to senior officials of the Noida Authority, drawing attention to the worsening condition of sanitation services and public amenities in the sector. He urged the authority to take prompt corrective measures in the interest of residents.

According to the RWA, the sector’s drainage system has suffered due to inadequate maintenance. Drains remain clogged with silt and garbage, while overgrown weeds along drain edges are obstructing the flow of water. Residents claim that regular cleaning operations have become irregular, resulting in garbage accumulation at several locations.

The RWA also highlighted the condition of vacant plots owned by the Noida Authority. Large stretches of land are reportedly covered with wild grass and weeds reaching heights of eight to ten feet. Residents allege that these overgrown areas have become shelters for poisonous snakes and other harmful creatures, which are increasingly being spotted near homes and residential areas. The situation has created anxiety among families, particularly those with young children.

Concerns have also been raised about the maintenance of public parks in the sector. Several trees inside parks and along boundary walls have reportedly bent downwards and require urgent pruning and maintenance. Residents say the overgrown, poorly maintained vegetation is affecting the appearance of the parks and causing inconvenience to people who use them for morning and evening walks.

In addition, garbage heaps can reportedly be seen at multiple locations inside the park premises. Despite repeated representations by residents, they claim that park maintenance standards have not improved, leading to frustration among the community.

Key Demands Raised by the RWA

The Sector 105 RWA has requested the Noida Authority to:

  • Ensure regular cleaning of drains and roads through the Civil Department.
  • Remove wild grass and overgrown weeds from all vacant authority-owned plots.
  • Clear garbage from parks and undertake pruning and maintenance of trees.
  • Improve overall upkeep of public spaces to ensure the safety and convenience of residents.

RWA President Divya Krishnatreya Deepak Sharma said that residents expect the Noida Authority to treat these issues as a priority and take swift corrective action. The association expressed confidence that the authority will address these basic civic concerns in a timely manner and work towards improving the quality of life for residents of Sector 105.

“The transfer of sanitation responsibilities has led to a visible decline in cleanliness standards. Residents are facing difficulties due to clogged drains, overgrown vacant plots and poorly maintained parks. Immediate intervention is needed to restore proper civic services in the sector,” Sharma said.
