Greater Noida West: Tension gripped Samridhi Grand Avenue after foreign tenants residing in M Tower were accused of assaulting a delivery boy and misbehaving with residents. The incident has raised serious concerns about safety and tenant verification within the society.

Allegations of unauthorised letting

Residents allege that the owner of Flat No. 102 in M Tower, a doctor by profession, rented out the apartment to Nigerian nationals without obtaining prior permission from the maintenance department or the builder. Locals claim the arrangement resembled a hotel-style accommodation service for foreign nationals.

According to residents, the tenants were initially introduced as cancer patients. Later, they were described as attendants. Over the past year, residents observed frequent movement of different individuals in and out of the flat. Complaints were reportedly made about public smoking, alleged misconduct and attempts at physical intimidation in common areas.

Delivery boy assault alleged

The situation escalated during a recent incident when the tenants allegedly refused to pay a delivery executive and assaulted him. When residents intervened, they were reportedly subjected to verbal abuse and attempts at physical assault.

Police were called through the 112 emergency helpline. Eyewitnesses claim that even in the presence of police personnel and over 50 residents, the accused individuals behaved aggressively and allegedly attempted to manhandle officers. Residents further alleged that threats were issued openly, warning them of consequences.

Alleged delay in complaint registration

Residents also claimed that there was initial reluctance in registering the complaint. However, following pressure from society members, the complaint was eventually accepted.

Residents demand immediate action

Society members have now urged the administration to take strict and immediate action. They have demanded the removal of the tenants and a thorough investigation into the circumstances under which the flat was rented.

Residents say they are living in fear and worry that failure to act swiftly could lead to a more serious incident in the future. They have also called for stricter tenant verification, especially in cases involving foreign nationals, and a review of security protocols within the society.

The matter is currently under investigation, and further administrative action is awaited.
