Petrol and diesel will now cost more as a result of the Karnataka government’s raise in fuel sales tax on Saturday.

Fuel prices will now increase by Rs 3 and diesel by Rs 3.5 per litre, according to official sources.

The Finance Department announced that the government has increased the sales tax on gasoline by 3.92 percentage points, from 25.92 to 29.84 percent.

There is a 4.1 percentage point increase in diesel, from 14.34 to 18.44 percent.

Days have passed since the results of the Lok Sabha election, in which the NDA secured 19 of the 28 seats in Karnataka, the BJP gaining 17 and the JD(S) with 2. Nine seats have been won by the state’s ruling Congress.

The action, which is intended to mobilize resources, is the result of an assessment of the state’s revenue collection and fiscal status by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who also serves as the finance minister.

The CM urged staff to put in more effort during the meeting to accomplish revenue collection targets.
