Greater Noida West: A unique women’s cricket championship will be organized on September 1 at Palm Olympia Society in Greater Noida West. In this tournament, 44 women of the society will showcase their cricket talent. This event not only reflects enthusiasm for the game but also gives a strong message of women’s empowerment and safety.
Women’s empowerment and safety
Mahi Singh and Nirmala Singh, Tournament organizers, say, “This event is being organized in memory of the unfortunate incident that happened with a junior doctor in Kolkata recently. We want this tournament to underline the importance of women’s empowerment and safety.”
Four teams will participate in this championship, with each team having 11 players, although only 10 players will play on the field. The format of the tournament will start directly with the semi-finals, after which the final match will be played. Each match will be 10 overs and will be played with a tennis ball.
Job in the day, practice in the night
A grand event will be organised at the society to mark the occasion, with various stalls as well as live music band performances. Many residents of the society, such as Chetan, Prashant, Jeet, Kiran, Abhishek and Dinesh, are contributing to making the event a success. Most of the women participating in the tournament are professionals, who work in their offices during the day and practice cricket at night.
Participant Parul said, “Our cricket practice starts after 8:30 pm. Playing cricket after the job is challenging, but we are very happy with it.”
