Noida: A memorandum addressed to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was submitted on Friday through the City Magistrate at the District Collectorate, demanding that the Noida Authority construct government hospitals instead of allocating land to private healthcare institutions.
According to the memorandum, the Noida Authority has floated two hospital plots for allocation through a bidding process. Members of the Active Citizen Team stated that nearly 95 per cent of hospitals in the Noida region are already operated by the private sector, making quality healthcare unaffordable for common citizens, salaried employees, farmers and labourers.
The memorandum highlighted that lakhs of residents in the region currently do not have access to affordable and accessible medical treatment, resulting in serious concerns regarding healthcare services.
Members of the Active Citizen Team urged the Authority to develop government hospitals on its own land instead of handing over plots to private institutions. They said this would help provide better and more economical healthcare facilities to the general public.
The organisation also pointed out that the Greater Noida Authority had earlier allotted four plots to private hospitals, which had faced opposition from residents at that time as well. Despite the objections, fresh plots are again being offered for private hospitals, leading to growing dissatisfaction among people.
Those present while submitting the memorandum included Manjeet Singh, Sadhna Sinha, Harendra Bhati, Alok Singh, Sunil Pradhan and Ramesh Premchandani.
