Noida : A market complex built by the Noida Authority in Sector 105 has remained locked for several years despite being fully constructed, prompting the Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA) to demand immediate action. The association has written to the Chief Executive Officer of the Noida Authority, urging the administration to allot or lease the vacant shops so that residents can access essential services within the sector.
According to Sector 105 RWA President Divya Krishnatreya, the market was developed by the Noida Authority at a cost of several lakhs and crores of rupees with the objective of serving the daily needs of residents. However, despite the completion of construction, the shops have remained unused for years, forcing residents to travel to distant markets even for basic household necessities.
The RWA stated that the prolonged closure has caused inconvenience, particularly for senior citizens and women. It also pointed out that the vacant market is resulting in a significant loss of potential revenue for the Noida Authority in the form of rent and shop allotment fees.
In the letter addressed to the CEO, the association highlighted that while many young people in the area are searching for employment opportunities, ready-to-use commercial spaces remain locked. The RWA suggested that the Authority should allot the shops through lease, rental or sale, which would not only create business and employment opportunities but also ensure that residents have access to essential services closer to their homes.
RWA President Divya Krishnatreya said that opening the market would improve the upkeep of the commercial complex while making the public infrastructure created with taxpayers’ money functional and beneficial for the community. The association has appealed to the Noida Authority to take an early decision and operationalise the market in the interest of residents and local economic activity.
