Noida: The Noida Authority has taken a strict view of alleged irregularities in the operation of the Noida Indoor Stadium after complaints prompted an official inquiry. Following the investigation, which reportedly uncovered several discrepancies in documents submitted by the operating company, Noida Authority CEO Krishna Karunesh directed officials to initiate action and issue a show-cause notice.

The authority has stated that the matter will be investigated in accordance with established rules and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings.

Alleged Fake Documents Submitted During Tender Process

According to sources, the company responsible for operating the stadium allegedly submitted forged or misleading documents while participating in the tender process for the stadium’s operations in 2021.

The Noida Indoor Stadium, constructed at an estimated cost of ₹101 crore, is one of the city’s premier sports facilities. Following complaints, the authority carried out a detailed verification of the tender documents, during which multiple discrepancies were reportedly identified.

Major Events Allegedly Held Without Fire NOC

The inquiry also reportedly found that large sporting and public events were organised at the stadium without the operator obtaining the mandatory Fire No Objection Certificate (Fire NOC).

Officials consider the alleged absence of the required fire clearance a serious safety concern, particularly given the scale of events hosted at the venue.

CEO Krishna Karunesh Orders Strict Action

After reviewing the matter, CEO Krishna Karunesh instructed officials to take immediate action against the company.

He emphasised that forgery, manipulation of official documents and negligence would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He directed officials to issue a show-cause notice to the company and complete the inquiry as per the prescribed procedure before taking further action.

“Any manipulation of documents, forgery or negligence will not be tolerated. Strict action will be taken against any violation of rules,” CEO Krishna Karunesh said.

Focus on Transparency and Public Safety

The Noida Indoor Stadium regularly hosts national and international sporting competitions as well as other major public events. The allegations have raised questions regarding compliance with safety norms and transparency in the tender process.

If the allegations are substantiated during the inquiry, the company could face contractual action as well as other legal proceedings in accordance with applicable regulations.
