The largest provider of IT services, HCLTech, stated during its Q1 results call that it intends to train and upskill about 20,000 workers in Generative AI (GenAI) each quarter, with an end goal of training about 1 lakh workers in GenAI skills by the end of FY25. Chief People Officer of HCLTech Ramachandran Sundararajan stated, “I think the biggest thing is the traction that we are seeing in GenAI.” We already disclosed the expenditures we are making to equip our employees with GenAI skills. As you may remember, we taught and certified about 42,000 workers last year.
“Our goal for this year is to maintain that momentum, which usually entails adding roughly 20,000 trained and certified individuals every quarter to reach the 100,000 milestone at the end of the year. Thus, we’re headed in that direction,” he continued.
