Noida : Bank customers across India may face disruption in branch-based services as the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has announced a three-day nationwide strike from September 28 to 30, 2026. The unions decided to proceed with the strike after talks failed to resolve their demand to implement a five-day banking week.
In view of the proposed strike, Apartment Times advises residents of Noida, Greater Noida, Greater Noida West and Delhi NCR to complete essential branch-related banking work by September 25, wherever possible, to avoid last-minute inconvenience.
Residents advised to plan branch visits in advance
Customers who need to complete cheque-related work, submit documents, access account services, withdraw or deposit cash or carry out other transactions requiring assistance from branch staff should plan these activities in advance. Branch-based services could be affected depending on employee participation in the strike. Several banks have also issued advisories asking customers to complete important transactions before the strike period.
Banking disruption could stretch to five days
The timing of the strike could result in a longer disruption to branch services. September 26 is the second Saturday and September 27 is Sunday, immediately before the three-day strike from September 28 to 30. As a result, customers could potentially face disruption in branch-based banking services for five consecutive days, from September 26 through September 30. September 30 also coincides with the banking sector’s half-yearly closing, adding to the importance of planning month-end transactions in advance.
Digital banking services expected to remain available
Routine transactions can generally continue through UPI, mobile banking, internet banking and ATMs. However, customers should not rely solely on digital channels for services that require physical documentation or assistance from branch employees. The Finance Ministry has also asked public sector banks and regional rural banks to take steps to minimise disruption and ensure adequate availability of cash through ATMs during the strike period.

Residents are advised not to leave important branch-related banking work until the last moment. Wherever possible, essential transactions should be completed by September 25. For routine requirements during the strike period, customers can use secure digital banking channels such as UPI, internet banking and mobile banking, subject to individual bank availability.
