The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is all set to launch a new signal-free connector soon, linking the Eastern Express Highway (EEH) with the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC).

The new route aims to reduce traffic congestion and cut travel time for commuters, potentially saving up to 15 minutes during daily commutes, as per TOI.

Stretching 180 metres, the connector is part of an 850-metre route that will link the SEBI Building to Avenue-5, under the BKC Connector Road, and extend to Avenue-3 near We-Work. Although the distance remains the same, the removal of traffic signals will ensure smoother and faster travel.

The new connector is expected to ease traffic flow, especially during peak hours when BKC faces the worst congestion.

This development follows the opening of an elevated connector between BKC’s ‘G Block’ and EEH in November 2019. Despite its intent to reduce traffic, it has not been able to cope with the heavy usage, causing delays on BKC’s internal roads. As a result, MMRDA decided to create a more efficient route to meet growing traffic demands.

This new link is part of MMRDA’s plan to ease congestion by offering alternative routes, helping reduce the pressure on internal roads within BKC. Key areas such as MCA, Consulate, and MTNL, as well as vehicles heading towards G-Block, will benefit from the improved traffic flow.

The connector prioritises reducing congestion and ensuring the quickest travel time, making daily commuting more convenient for thousands of travellers.
