As part of its series D financing round, banking infrastructure startup M2P Fintech secured Rs 650 crore on Tuesday using a combination of main and secondary capital. Helios Investment Partners led the investment round, which valued the business at more than Rs 6,550 crore.
Flourish Ventures and other current investors took part in the financing round.
According to the company, the funds acquired in the most recent investment round will be used to expand its global presence, especially in Africa, and enhance its operations in India.
“With the continent’s financial ecosystem rapidly changing, Africa now presents enormous potential and stands to be the company’s next major growth frontier.” M2P is well-positioned to take advantage of this potential given the growing popularity of mobile-led financial services delivery and the growing adoption of smartphones, the firm said in a statement.
The company wants to grow into a few Asean (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) nations. It also said that it wants to make a lasting impression on West Asia.
Chief executive officer (CEO) and co-founder of M2P Fintech Madhusudanan R stated, “We’re thrilled to partner with Helios, whose deep understanding of the African market, coupled with our powerful platform capabilities, will position us well to deliver on our mission of fostering financial inclusion and innovation.”
The company was founded in 2014 and now operates in more than 30 markets in the regions of Oceania, MENA, and Asia-Pacific.
According to the company, more than 800 fintechs, 300 lenders, and more than 200 banks can use its services.
The Unified Payments Interface (UPI), buy-now-pay-later (BNPL), credit, debit, and prepaid cards, as well as the core banking system and core lending suite, are all powered by its technology stack.
Elias Yazbeck, managing director of financial services and fintech at Helios Investment Partners, stated, “Helios has a significant track record of growing fintech and financial services businesses on the continent, and this investment aligns with our strategy to invest in high-growth, tech-focused businesses.”
