On June 24, Apple intends to release the second developer beta of iOS 18. Two further improvements that Apple unveiled for supported iPhones during its WWDC 2024 keynote are anticipated to be included in the second developer beta edition of iOS 18. Apple spokesperson Fred Sainz said in a statement to The Verge that the flagship iOS 18 features will not be released in the European Union until later this year. However, on Monday, June 24, the second developer beta version will include features like iPhone mirroring and expanded SharePlay screen sharing capabilities.
Developer beta 2 of iOS 18: What to anticipate
Mirroring on iPhone
iPhone Mirroring is the first feature that iOS 18 developer beta 2 is expected to provide to compatible iPhones. Apple revealed the availability of this functionality at this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which will allow customers to mirror their iPhone display on compatible Macs. Without having to unlock the iPhone’s screen, it will enable smooth interaction with the device, notification receiving, and even drag-and-drop functionality between the Mac and iPhone.
Screen sharing using SharePlay
SharePlay screen sharing is another feature that is probably going to be included with the second developer beta. According to Apple, iOS 18 will improve screen sharing capabilities, enabling users to annotate on another person’s screen to view tasks that need to be completed on their own. Users will be able to perform essential actions by controlling the screens of others with this capability.
Intelligence from Apple
Although fans of the iPhone have been itching to test out the new AI-powered capabilities that Apple refers to as Apple Intelligence, a representative for the company confirmed to The Verge that beta testing for Apple Intelligence will begin this summer. But no precise date has been established yet. With the next developer beta, Apple is not anticipated to provide any Apple Intelligence features.
