Greater Noida West: In a major boost to regional connectivity, the Greater Noida Authority is preparing to present a proposal for Uttar Pradesh’s first double-decker elevated road in its upcoming board meeting. The ambitious project aims to provide a seamless, signal-free corridor connecting 130-Metre Road to NH-9 via Crossing Republic, offering relief to thousands of daily commuters.
According to the authority, approval from the board will pave the way for the preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and the commencement of construction.
₹1,200-Crore Project to Transform Connectivity
The proposed corridor will be approximately 2.5 kilometres long and is expected to cost around ₹1,200 crore.
Once completed, the road will improve connectivity between Greater Noida West, Techzone, Crossing Republic and key destinations including Delhi, the Delhi-Meerut Expressway and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway.
The authority believes the project will not only ease traffic congestion but also reduce travel time significantly.
Ground-Level Road to Remain, Two Elevated Levels Above
One of the project’s key highlights is its innovative design.
The existing road will continue to serve local traffic, while two elevated one-way carriageways will be constructed above it. Each elevated deck will be around 9 to 10 metres wide and feature three traffic lanes, allowing uninterrupted movement of vehicles.
The design will separate local and long-distance traffic, ensuring smoother traffic flow and reducing bottlenecks across the corridor.
NHAI to Construct Elevated Portion
The project will be executed jointly by the Greater Noida Authority, Noida Authority, Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
Officials said multiple meetings have already been held to resolve land-related and technical issues. The consultant-prepared design has also received in-principle agreement.
Since the elevated corridor will directly connect to NH-9, NHAI will be responsible for constructing the elevated section. The agency has sought the Detailed Project Report, which is currently under preparation.
Major Relief for Crossing Republic and 130-Metre Road
Traffic congestion on 130-Metre Road and Crossing Republic has become a daily challenge, particularly during office hours, when commuters often spend 30 to 45 minutes stuck in traffic.
The proposed double-decker corridor is expected to substantially reduce congestion and shorten travel time. According to the authority, more than one lakh commuters are likely to benefit directly from the project.
The improved connectivity is also expected to support the rapidly expanding residential, commercial and industrial sectors in Greater Noida West.
Project Expected to Boost Economic Growth
Urban planning experts believe the project will go beyond solving traffic issues by strengthening logistics, warehousing, information technology and real estate sectors.
Improved connectivity is expected to attract fresh investments and enhance the region’s overall economic development while preparing the corridor for future traffic growth.

“Uttar Pradesh’s first double-decker elevated road will give Greater Noida West a new identity in terms of connectivity. The proposal will be placed before the upcoming board meeting. Once approved, work on the project will begin at the earliest. Our objective is to create a signal-free and congestion-free corridor, ensuring safe, fast and convenient travel. The road will connect directly to NH-9, improving connectivity between Greater Noida West, Techzone and Crossing Republic with Delhi, the Delhi-Meerut Expressway and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway. The project will also benefit the logistics, warehousing and IT sectors.”
Board Approval Key to Moving Forward
The double-decker elevated road is being seen as one of the most significant infrastructure projects planned for Greater Noida West. If approved by the authority’s board, it will mark the beginning of Uttar Pradesh’s first double-decker elevated road while providing a long-term solution to traffic congestion for millions of commuters across the NCR.
