Greater Noida West: The residents of Greater Noida West were demanding the Metro. Their wish is soon going to be fulfilled. The Greater Noida Authority has allocated a budget of Rs 1453.84 crore for the proposed Metro Line (Phase-2) connecting Noida to Greater Noida West. By placing this scheme in the category of Special Project, the Authority has included its contribution in the budget.
5 lakh people will benefit from the scheme
The DPR is awaited to be approved by the state and central government for the start of the Metro Project. It is expected that this project will get the green signal in this financial year. About five lakh people living in Greno West will benefit from the scheme. Greno West residents have been demanding this for a long time.

NMRC is operating the Aqua Line Metro from Sector-51 to Greater Noida Depot. At the same time, Greno Authority, which is engaged in the exercise of taking the metro to Greno West, has allocated its share of the budget for the special project in the board meeting held last week and informed the government. In the detailed project report (DPR) of the metro, the estimated cost of this project is Rs 2991 crore. Greno Authority has allocated Rs 1450 crore in this item.
A total of 11 stations will start from Sector 51 of Noida and go up to Knowledge Park-5
A few months ago, DMRC prepared a new DPR by making changes to the proposed metro line to Greno West. According to this, in Phase-2 of Aqua Line, a total of 11 stations will start from Sector 51 of Noida and go up to Knowledge Park-5. The total length of the project will be 17.4 km. Out of this, 7 km will be in Noida and the rest in Greater Noida West. At the same time, there will be four stations in Noida and seven in Greater Noida West. Till now, the existing line of Aqua Line from Pari Chowk goes to Sector-51 via the depot.
Passengers increased by two and a half times in 4 years
Aqua Line Metro connects Sector-51 of Noida to the depot station of Greater Noida. In the year 2019, an average of about 18 thousand passengers used to travel daily. Which has now increased to 45 thousand daily in four years.
Rs 480 crore left for the first phase
The Greater Noida Authority had allocated a budget of Rs 1455.19 crore for the first phase of Rapid Transit System Metro Rail. The Authority spent Rs 975.05 crore on this project and Rs 480.14 crore is left. The Authority has kept the remaining budget of the first phase safe for the city’s contribution to the transport system.
Vinod Kumar, Manager, General Finance says, “A provision for the Metro Phase-2 has been made in the budget of the special project. The Greater Noida Authority has allocated its share of the budget in this item.”
