Greater Noida West: Encroachment by street vendors is increasing on the roads and in the authority’s green belts in Greater Noida West. The green belt is being ruined by breaking the fencing. The officers responsible for this are not taking this issue seriously.
Greater Noida Authority has developed wide roads and wide green belts at various places in Greater Noida West. Barbed wire fencing has also been done to protect these green belts. But at various places, the roadside and green belt are falling prey to encroachment by street vendors and handcarts. While the green belt is being ruined due to encroachment, there is a traffic jam due to encroachment on the roadside.
Girish Shukla, a Resident, Samridhi Grand Avenue Society located in Techzone-4, says, “The authority has a 100-meter-wide green belt next to his society. Food carts and street vendors have opened their shops by encroaching on the green belt. Also, many handcarts are set up illegally on the roadside next to the society.”
Rahul Garg, a Resident, Havelia Valencia located in Sector-1 says, “The authority has a green belt in front of his society. Earlier, this green belt was maintained by their society, but after the adoption by the authority ended, the society stopped maintaining the green belt. Now the situation is such that food cart vendors and cocoanut water vendors have broken the fencing of the green belt and started their shops inside the green belt. Due to this, along with dirt, grass is also getting wasted in the green belt.”

Abhishek Kumar, President, Nefowa says, “Encroachment of road pavement is a big problem in Greno West. The responsibility of removing encroachment from the road pavements lies with the concerned work circle and urban department, while the responsibility of removing encroachment from the green belt lies with the garden department. But often one department is busy getting rid of its responsibility by blaming the other department.”
Abhishek informed Apartment Times that this issue has been raised prominently in the meeting with ACEO Annapurna Garg today. She has assured us to take concrete action on encroachment.
