Google partners with Tamil Nadu to boost AI ecosystem, tech upskilling | Tech News

Google and the Tamil Nadu government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Saturday in an effort to promote creativity and technological growth in the region.

In order to develop effective, scalable AI solutions, the partnership will concentrate on projects in important areas such skilling, AI start-up enablement, and industrial ecosystem enablement, including MSMEs. In the presence of State Chief Minister M K Stalin and Industries Minister TRB Rajaa, the Memorandum of Understanding was exchanged at Google’s Mountain View headquarters. There were also Amit Zavery, Vice President and Head of Platform at Google Cloud, and Nanda Ramachandran, Vice President of Google’s Pixel Business Unit.

Google and Guidance, the Tamil Nadu government’s key body for investment promotion and facilitation, have an agreement in place that calls for Google to collaborate in order to help the growth of a strong AI ecosystem. Access to cutting-edge tools and resources is part of this, with a focus on enabling people, organisations, and governmental bodies to use AI to promote equitable growth and advancement.

The recently announced Made in India Pixel 8 phone, which is being produced in Tamil Nadu, is just one of the sophisticated manufacturing projects on which we are pleased to work with Google. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was inked today to investigate important AI projects under the Tamil Nadu AI Labs. Our collaboration with Google is a big step towards making Tamil Nadu a thriving centre for the production of innovative electronics and AI. We are using technology to advance our state into the future, not just embracing it,” Rajaa stated.

“The largest upskilling effort in India, the Chief Minister’s ambitious ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ programme, intends to empower Tamil Nadu’s youth with AI skills fit for the future and foster innovation in important areas like startups, mobility, healthcare, and other real-world problems. In order to better prepare 2 million young people for the future, the state is dedicated to giving them cutting-edge AI skills. We’re excited to investigate projects with Google as part of this program,” he continued.

Google and the Tamil Nadu government are considering working together on the Pixel 8 phone’s production. Through local partnerships, the Made in India Pixel 8 gadgets are produced in Tamil Nadu. Under the flagship “Naan Mudhalvan” upskilling platform, Google will partner with the government to upskill Tamil Nadu’s workforce with AI skills and investigate AI learning projects.

Programs will also aim to improve digital education in order to create a workforce prepared for the future.

Startups and Innovation: In collaboration with the startup ecosystem in Tamil Nadu, Google will provide networking opportunities and mentorship with Google specialists and business executives, as well as AI-focused events aimed at resolving regional issues and encouraging creativity and problem-solving among the populace. To help eligible VC-funded AI firms grow faster, Google for firms will offer cloud credits, technical training, and business support.

Encouraging MSMEs and Rural Economy: Google and Google Cloud’s partners will cooperate with the government to harness Google Cloud’s artificial intelligence on open networks marketplace in order to empower MSMEs in Tamil Nadu. Through the deployment of technology, these initiatives will facilitate simplified access, automate procedures, improve decision-making, and foster creativity.
