Glasses overflowed in the New Year celebrations, 370 million worth of alcohol consumed in Noida-Greater Noida
The celebration of welcoming the New Year 2026 was in full swing in Noida and Greater Noida. People enthusiastically poured drinks at parties, clubs, pubs, and private events. According to data from the excise department, liquor sales worth nearly 370 million rupees were recorded in just two days, while the total consumption reached approximately 700,000 liters.
Crowds of people flocked to parties
Preparations for parties at bars, clubs, pubs, restaurants, and private venues had already begun nearly 10 days before New Year’s. On December 30 and 31, over 200 private venues in the district hosted parties, where thousands of people participated and spent lavishly on the celebrations.
Highest sales on December 30 and 31
According to data received from the Excise Department, people in Noida-Greater Noida consumed about 150 million rupees worth of alcohol on December 30, while on December 31, this figure rose to 220 million rupees. Altogether, nearly 700,000 liters of alcohol were consumed on both days. Sales of over 120 million rupees were also recorded on Thursday.
More enthusiasm than last year
Last year, around 500,000 liters of alcohol were sold during New Year’s celebrations, costing 320 million rupees. This time, around 70 million rupees more was spent on alcohol. This also benefited the Excise Department substantially, bringing in an additional revenue of about 50 million rupees.
Increased revenue for the Excise Department. According to District Excise Officer Subodh Kumar Srivastava, this time there was considerable enthusiasm among people regarding the New Year celebrations. It is estimated that more than 120 million rupees worth of liquor will be sold on January 1 as well. Overall, the New Year celebrations turned out to be record-breaking in Noida and Greater Noida.
