Explosion in the IGL pipeline during the digging of a sewer line, Four people burnt

Ghaziabad : During the digging of the sewer line on 60 Foot Road located at Krishna Vihar Road of Teela Mor, the IGL pipeline caught fire with an explosion. In this accident, four people including a municipal corporation employee got burnt. All the burnt people were admitted to a private hospital nearby.

How did the explosion happen?

This accident happened in Defense Colony near Bhopura at around six in the evening. The Municipal Corporation team was digging a sewer on 60 Foota Road in the Krishna Vihar Kuti area with a JCB machine. IGL pipeline and 11,000 volt electric line are laid under this road. During the digging of the sewer line, the IGL pipeline burst with a JCB machine, which caused the fire. However, the fire was controlled soon, but 4 employees working there got burnt due to the fire.

How did the explosion happen?

Although the fire was soon brought under control, 4 employees working there got burnt due to the fire.

The main reason for the accident

IGL employee Rishrabh said that the accident happened due to the negligence of the JCB driver. He said, “The driver did not do as he was told and kept digging on his own.” Due to this, the pipeline burst and a fire broke out. At the same time, IGL AGM Fire and Safety Dheeraj Tiwari said, “The fire was brought under control shortly after the accident. There is no information of employees getting burnt, yet we are investigating at our level.”
