Ghaziabad cop kills self after making video accusing woman friend, 2 others of extortion

The Ghaziabad police have registered a first information report (FIR) of abetment to suicide against a woman and her two accomplices after a 32-year-old police constable died by his service rifle on Tuesday. On Wednesday, high-ranking police officials stated that the constable had left behind a video message explaining how, over the previous two years, she and her associates had extracted almost ₹6 lakh from him. According to authorities, two of the three people listed in the FIR have been taken into custody.

At the Muradnagar police station, a FIR was filed under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with encouraging suicide. Charges of extortion and the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act have been added to the FIR following the arrest of the two women. (Only a representational image)

They said the constable committed suicide on Tuesday night while on duty at the Muradnagar Municipal Council premises. According to the authorities, he recorded a three-minute video on his phone, in which he described the three individuals that mistreated him.

“At the Muradnagar police station, we have filed a formal complaint of aiding and abetting suicide against his female friend Prachi (single name), 24, her female companion Guddan (single name), 22, and a man named Amit Kumar. As a search is conducted for the third suspect, Prachi and Guddan have been taken into custody. According to Vivek Chandra Yadav, deputy commissioner of police (rural), “The constable, who joined the force in 2018, stated in the video that, despite being married, he was in a relationship with Prachi, who was his neighbour in Bulandshahr.”

“We have taken the two women into custody and filed additional charges against them under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act for extortion.” There is a thorough interrogation taking place,” he stated.

Yadav added, “The constable stated that the three had threatened to incriminate him in a fictitious rape case if he did not give them more money, and they had extracted roughly ₹6 lakh from him over the previous two years.”

At the Muradnagar police station, a FIR was filed under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with encouraging suicide.

Prachi, according to the DCP, knew that the deceased was married, yet she nevertheless went into a relationship with him.

“The woman who lives in front of my house in Bulandshahr entered into a relationship with me two years ago,” the officer stated in the video. She has been blackmailing me ever since. Amit, a man who lives in the same neighbourhood, helps her. Another woman from Meerut goes by the name of Guddan. And these three people are always bugging me. They have stolen almost ₹6 lakh from me over the last two years. The woman threatens to put me in jail by trapping me in a bogus case when I tell them I’m going to file a police report.

“I am so harassed that I cannot eat properly,” he continued. They are still not happy, even after I gave them money and sold my wife’s possessions. I’m hurting. I had even eaten poison in the past, but it didn’t stop her. All I can do is end my life.

According to the police, there is still more investigation going on.
