Google for India: Gemini Live available in Hindi, more languages to follow | Tech News

At the recent Google for India event, the tech giant unveiled a host of AI-driven features designed specifically for the Indian market, emphasizing local language support and enhancing user experience across its platforms.

Key Announcements from Google for India

Gemini Live Language Expansion

One of the standout features announced was the expansion of the Gemini Live chatbot, now supporting Hindi. This conversational AI, known for its natural language processing capabilities, will soon roll out support for eight additional Indian languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam, Gujarati, and Urdu.

AI Overviews in Search

Google also introduced AI-generated summaries in Google Search, branded as AI Overviews. This feature, initially available in Hindi, will soon be extended to Telugu, Tamil, Bengali, and Marathi. These overviews provide concise summaries and reference links, revolutionizing the way users receive information by prioritizing clarity and relevance over traditional search results.

Enhanced Google Maps Features

In Google Maps, users can now access AI-generated summaries of reviews, making it easier to gauge feedback about locations and services. This new feature streamlines the review process, allowing users to quickly understand the general sentiment without sifting through lengthy comments.

Innovative Video AI Overview

Another exciting addition is the experimental AI Overview with video capability, currently available in Search Labs. This feature lets users record videos with Google Lens within the Google app, enabling them to receive AI-generated overviews based on the video context. For example, if a user records a cooking video and seeks assistance, the AI will provide an overview tailored to the video’s content.

Recent Developments and Accessibility Enhancements

Previously exclusive to Gemini Advance subscribers, Gemini Live is now accessible to all Android users, promoting a more conversational and engaging interaction style. To further enhance accessibility, Google has also introduced ten new voices for Gemini Live, allowing for a richer user experience.

Additionally, following extensive testing, AI Overviews in Google Search have been rolled out to all users, providing a seamless way to access key information along with relevant references, transforming the traditional search experience into a more user-friendly format.

As Google continues to innovate with AI technologies tailored for the Indian audience, these new features mark a significant step towards making information more accessible and relevant for users across the country.
