Gautam Buddh Nagar: The Gautam Buddh Nagar Hockey Association held an important meeting to discuss preparations for organising a Sports Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, widely remembered as the ‘Hockey Wizard’ of India.
The meeting focused on celebrating the sporting legacy of Major Dhyan Chand while encouraging young people to participate in sports and develop the values of discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship.

During the meeting, association members recalled Major Dhyan Chand’s contribution to Indian hockey and his role in bringing international recognition to the sport.
The members discussed the importance of remembering his sporting journey and using his legacy to inspire the younger generation to take up sports.

The proposed Sports Day will focus on encouraging young players and promoting sporting talent.
The association plans to include various sporting activities aimed at increasing awareness about sports among youngsters and encouraging them to participate actively.

The meeting was attended by Rakesh Katyal, President; Sardar Manjit Singh, General Secretary; Aseem Sharma, Harendra Bhati, Neeraj, Dilip, Afzal, Chandramani Sharma, Dhananjay Singh, Chandan, Sachin Bhati and Shivam Bhati.
Members discussed different aspects of the proposed programme and preparations required to make the event successful.

Association office-bearers said Major Dhyan Chand’s life and achievements remain an inspiration for every sportsperson in the country.
