Noida News: Sunday brought hope and relief for thousands of buyers of the Amrapali project in Noida and Greater Noida, who have been waiting for years for the registration of their homes. In a special camp organized at the sub-registration office, 236 registrations were completed in a single day, giving the legal ownership of their homes to as many families. This camp also generated revenue of 114.6 million rupees for the department.
To inspect the special registration camp, Inspector General of Management IAS Neha Sharma herself arrived at the site. She inaugurated the camp, inspected all counters and archives, and spoke with the people who came for registration to hear about their problems and experiences. Expressing satisfaction with the arrangements, IAS Neha Sharma said that such special camps will be regularly organized in the future so that the pending registrations of Amrapali and other projects can be completed quickly.
Since when was the Amrapali project stalled?
The troubles of the Amrapali Group’s projects began around 2015-2016, when construction suddenly slowed down. Complaints of fund diversion and financial irregularities increased. Thousands of buyers, despite purchasing flats, were deprived of legal ownership (registry) of their homes. In 2019, the Supreme Court entrusted NBCC with the responsibility of completing the construction, and gradually the projects started progressing, but the registry was still stuck because the builder’s property was attached.
Verification of the documents was taking time. Officials were delayed in updating buyer data. Because of this, thousands of buyers were unable to legally become owners despite living in their ready flats.
Wave of happiness among buyers
Finally, the dream homes have been legally acquired. Families were all smiles after receiving their registry, as they had been living in the flats for years without ownership rights. On this occasion, Inspector General of Management Neha Sharma, Deputy Inspector General of Registration Arun Mishra AGM (I), Arun Sharma AGM (II), Brijesh Kumar, and Sub-Registrar Yashwant Kumar Singh were present.
These are the Amrapali projects that were completed under the leadership of NBCC and for which people have now received the registry. The bookings for these flats were made between 2009 and 2013.
Amrapali Ledger Valley (Greater Noida West)
Amrapali Zodiac (Noida Sector-120)
Amrapali Sapphire (Noida Sector 45)
Amrapali Silicon City (Noida Sector 76)
It should be noted that between 2016-2018, a real estate scam came to light in Amrapali, after which bookings were stopped. No new bookings were taken during this period. All projects had come to a halt and court cases had started. In 2019, the Supreme Court ordered NBCC (National Buildings Construction Corporation) to complete the projects.
Registry process faster, scheduled camps every week
Special registry camps are being organized at the Zonal Sub-Registrar Office in Noida-Greater Noida. On December 8, the registries of 236 buyers were completed. In the next three weeks, preparations are underway for 600-700 more registries. The registry starts as soon as the NOC issued by NBCC and the court receiver’s permission are received.

Major Real Estate Scam
The Amrapali project controversy was a major real estate scam in which the builder group (Amrapali Group) defrauded over 42,000 homebuyers by diverting the money taken from them, creating fake companies, and misusing the funds, leaving their homes incomplete. This case reached the Supreme Court. The court tasked the government company NBCC with completing the unfinished projects.
