Delhi: 15 Flights Diverted, Many Delayed Due To Sudden Weather Shifts

The national capital’s poor weather forced up to fifteen flights to be rerouted at the Delhi airport on Tuesday night. There were also numerous flight delays.

A representative from the airport stated that nine of these planes were rerouted to Jaipur, two to Amritsar and Lucknow, and one to Mumbai and Chandigarh. A high-ranking government official stated his flight from the nation’s capital to Chennai had been delayed by more than five hours.

The official stated late in the evening that the IndiGo flight was scheduled to depart at approximately 5:15 p.m., but there has been no update on the departure time. Two of Vistara’s flights from Ranchi and Pune that were scheduled to arrive at the airport were reportedly rerouted.

IndiGo asked customers to confirm their flight times before leaving for the airport, citing unfavorable weather in the nation’s capital in a post on X. “Due to severe weather at Delhi airport, flight UK998 from Pune to Delhi (PNQ-DEL) has been diverted to Amritsar (ATQ),” Vistara stated in a post on X.

The airline claimed in a different post that poor weather has caused flight UK754 from Ranchi to Delhi to be diverted to Jaipur. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reports that Delhi’s weather took a sharp turn in the evening, with the highest temperature falling slightly below average at 36.8 degrees Celsius. There were mild rainfall and strong winds.
