Noida: The oldest federation of Noida CONRWA has written a letter to the CEO of Noida Authority, citing concerns about the fire in the dumping ground. In the letter, major risks have been explained with a few questions to Noida Authority.

P.S. Jain, President, CONRWA stated these key points in the letter –

The dumping ground of the Horticulture Department in Sector 32 has caught fire once again, which is why the city residents are facing a lot of problems. Last year also, on the evening of March 25, 2024, a fire broke out in the dumping ground of the Horticulture Department in Sector 32, where the green waste coming out of the city is being collected by the Horticulture Department. Due to this, that fire kept smouldering there for 5-6 days and the smoke generated from it caused so much pollution in an area of about 3-4 km around that. People faced many problems. The same situation has happened this time again.

Similar fires occur every year. Citizens have to face a lot of problems due to such fires. Even after this, no lessons are learnt and it is unfortunate that such fires keep recurring.

Several fire tenders have been engaged in extinguishing this fire for many days. Due to the short-sightedness and negligence of the officers of the authority, many lakhs of litres of water have been wasted.

Hospitals are 2 km from the dumping yard

Due to the fire in the dumping ground, a cloud of smoke has formed in the area of 3-4 km (which includes Sector 31,33,23,35,34,40,51, Hoshiarpur and Sector 39). However, the residents of the area started having trouble in breathing and complaints of a burning sensation in the eyes also started coming. People coming from the elevated road also had to face trouble in driving. Noida’s government hospital and children’s hospital are only two km away from the dumping ground. The smoke generated by this fire has also hurt the health of the patients there.

Sir, why was the garden department permitted to make a dumping ground in the middle of the city and under whose supervision and which garden department officer is the green waste being managed here ?
What arrangements have been made to prevent fire here and how many days’ worth of garbage is collected here and in how much time and how is it disposed of?
Which officer is responsible for the fire that broke out here and what action has been taken against him?

Under which rules was this dumping ground made in the middle of the city and how should it have been disposed of appropriately?
This is the negligence of the concerned officers and hence appropriate and strict action should be taken against the officer who is responsible for this. Due to this fire pollution in the city is increasing.
This should be taken up by Noida Authority very seriously so that such incidents can be prevented.
