Greater Noida : A tragic incident was reported from the Knowledge Park-3 area of Greater Noida, where a BTech second-year student died after jumping from the fourth floor of a private hostel. The incident led to chaos and protests inside the hostel campus, with students accusing the management of harassment.

The deceased has been identified as Udit Soni, a resident of Bhognipur in Jhansi. According to police, Udit was rushed to a nearby hospital after the fall, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. Following the incident, tension gripped the hostel premises. Fellow students staged a protest and alleged that the hostel management mentally harassed Udit. Angry students damaged property and raised slogans against the administration, forcing police to intervene and bring the situation under control.

As per preliminary information, Udit had returned to the hostel after consuming alcohol with his friend Kuldeep. Hostel authorities allegedly reprimanded him for being intoxicated and recorded a video of him. It is alleged that the video was later sent to Udit’s father, Vijay Soni. Students claim this act deeply disturbed him emotionally.

Police officials stated that no suicide note was recovered from the student’s room. The student’s mobile phone and other belongings are being examined to understand the circumstances leading to the incident. The body has been sent for postmortem and the family has been informed.

The incident has once again raised serious questions about student mental health, hostel discipline practices and the responsibility of educational institutions towards students. Police said the matter is under investigation and further action will be taken based on the findings.
