Greater Noida West : Over 45 hours have passed since the power supply was cut off in the market area of Amrapali Golf Homes Society, leaving more than 100 shopkeepers struggling to run their businesses. Until now, electricity was being supplied through a single commercial connection taken by NBCC, from which shopkeepers were receiving power via sub-meters as a temporary arrangement.
Despite all shopkeepers applying for direct multi-point power connections in December 2024 and depositing the required fees with NPCL (Noida Power Company Limited), the direct supply has not yet been provided

For the past 6–7 months, shopkeepers had been requesting the maintenance team to issue regular bills. However, about a week ago, the team suddenly raised hefty bills, most of which were fixed charges, and demanded payment within just three days. Many shopkeepers deposited the money, but even after payment, the electricity supply was disconnected.
Shopkeepers said they requested NPCL to grant them at least a week’s time to clear dues, but the company disconnected power without any extension. The timing of the outage has added to their woes. With the ongoing Pitru Paksha period, business was already down, and now two days without power has worsened losses. Perishable goods worth lakhs of rupees stored in refrigerators have spoiled, causing further financial strain.
The traders are angry and questioning why, despite depositing money for direct connections months ago, they are still being forced to depend on temporary arrangements. They are also demanding accountability for the losses suffered due to the outage.
